Business Description
Hi, my name is Shaindel, I am the photographer/business owner behind Raw Sugar Photography. I decided to turn my passion into my business in 2011 and haven’t looked back. I was a TV news producer in my former life, and am still a news junkie at heart. I love a good story, I just tell it now with pictures instead of words. Like most women, I wear many hats. I’m not only a photographer and business owner, but also a mom to 3 girls, a wife, cat mom, and an advocate for children in the foster care system. I graduated from Tulane University in 2003 with a B.A. in media arts. I have always dreamed of evoking emotion through my work and feel like I’ve found the perfect fit with photography. A few random facts about me: I LOVE food and always know the best restaurants in every locale, however I HATE to cook. Traveling gives me life. Locations with beautiful landscapes, architecture, and interesting histories are always my favorite. I’m a true crime nerd and get my fix through podcasts, books, and documentaries. I actually grew up wanting to be a detective. I have a potty mouth and sometimes let it slip in the worst places. I like the smell of asphalt, because it reminds me of my dad. I cannot stand the smell of fake maple syrup. I am super laid back, love a good laugh, and not much can elicit judgement from me (unless you don’t like cheese. I mean, really?) How do you know I’m the right photographer for you? If you are open-minded, don’t take yourself too seriously, love snuggling with your family, and can take a little bit of inappropriateness for the sake of a good belly laugh, we might make a good match. From your newborn’s rolls, to your 2 year-old’s pout, your 6 year-old’s missing teeth and wild hair, to your family laughing and playing – I want to create images at which you’ll look back on and smile, or even cry. I consider it a gift to be entrusted with these moments.
